IPTVSOSO – Classic channels back on the screen, and everything since

Your IPTVSOSO M3U link: one address, every channel, and where to paste it

The M3U link is a single long web address, and what it returns is a text file: line after line, each channel’s name followed by where its stream lives. Any player that opens a playlist URL can use it, which is why IPTVSOSO includes it for the players that cannot take a login, chiefly VLC on a desktop or laptop, Kodi through its IPTV Simple Client add-on, and Smart IPTV on Samsung or LG televisions. Two things do not come with it. The program guide is a separate file, served from xmltv.php on the same server with your username and password attached. And playlist players tend to show channels in groups, without the browsable Movies and Series sections an Xtream player builds. For the classics, that trade is fine: the film channels, the comedy and drama repeats and the cartoon channel all play from the link, and the guide is one extra paste away.

Lined up before the first channel

  • The M3U link from the IPTVSOSO activation message (it has get.php in it)
  • VLC on a computer, the PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on in Kodi, Smart IPTV on a TV, or another app that accepts nothing but a playlist link
  • For listings beside the channels, the matching xmltv.php address (the chat can send it)

No login in hand yet? The free 24-hour IPTVSOSO trial arrives as the same three details a paid term uses. The full price list sets out every length and screen count.

From standby to a familiar channel

  1. Give the link only to players that cannot take a login

Check the player’s sign-in screen first. If it has separate boxes for the server, the username and the password, it reads Xtream Codes; give it those lines instead, and the guide and catch-up markers come along by themselves. A portal field that mentions a MAC means a MAG-style box, and its portal is issued separately. The link is for everything else: VLC, Kodi’s IPTV Simple Client, Smart IPTV and any app with a single box for a playlist URL. It opens the same account in every case, so nothing is lost by giving each player the format it prefers.

    Line up an IPTVSOSO login

  2. Keep the link whole and private

Two habits keep the link working. First, never edit it: the server, the port, the get.php part and the username= and password= values all have to reach the player exactly as issued. Second, make sure the copy is complete. A long address can wrap in a chat bubble, and copying only part of it, typically losing the password at the end, hands the player an address that looks fine and opens nothing. Paste it into a note on your phone, scroll to the end and confirm your password is there. And keep it to yourself: it opens your account for anyone who has it.

  3. Try the link in VLC first

On a computer, VLC tells you within a minute whether the link is sound. In VLC for Windows the option is Media, then Open Network Stream; the Mac version keeps it under File, as Open Network. Put the link in the box and start it. The channels fill VLC’s playlist view, where its search field finds TCM or Boomerang from a few letters. VLC draws no guide, so use it as a test bench rather than the place to plan an evening of films. Once a channel plays here, the link is good, and a fault in another player lies with that player.

  4. Make the guide address

Listings come from a second address on the same server. Take the link, replace get.php with xmltv.php, and stop after the password value; if that feels fiddly, ask in the chat and it arrives ready to paste. Without it, every channel still plays, but nothing tells you when the film on TCM begins or what follows the comedy repeats on Gold, which is half the reason to watch scheduled channels at all. The field for it is labeled EPG, XMLTV or guide URL, depending on the player.

  5. Pair the link and the guide in Kodi

Kodi is the playlist player that gives you a proper guide. Its route runs through an add-on called PVR IPTV Simple Client, found among the PVR clients in Kodi’s add-on browser. Once it is installed, its configuration has a place for a remote M3U address, where the link goes, and a separate place for XMLTV data, where the xmltv.php address goes. Turn the add-on on, then close and reopen Kodi so it reads both. Kodi’s TV area then holds the channels by group, and its guide view shows the afternoon film on TCM or an evening of drama repeats on ITV3 as entries with start times.

  6. Gather the classics into one group

A full playlist runs to 25,000+ channels from 60+ countries, a long scroll for the seven you want most nights. In Kodi, create a channel group of your own with the group manager in the TV section, if your version offers it, and put TCM, MoviePlex, Starz Encore, Hallmark Movies, Gold, ITV3 and Boomerang in it. In VLC, rely on the search field instead. On Smart IPTV, use its favorites, which the Smart IPTV guide covers.

  7. Verify on Boomerang

Play Boomerang, a channel known for older cartoons, and let the picture steady. Add it to the group you made, or to favorites where the player has them. Then open Kodi’s guide on that channel and read the next title and start time; VLC has no guide, so there you only confirm that it plays. If Boomerang plays, stays in your list and shows its next program, the link and the guide address are both doing their jobs.

M3U playlist faults, traced back to the cause

The browser saved a file instead of playing

Opening the link in a web browser asks the server for the playlist, and the server hands back the playlist file, so the browser saves it. That is the link working, not failing. Browsers do not play IPTV playlists; open the link in VLC, Kodi or another player, or open the downloaded file in VLC, keeping in mind that the file contains your login.

VLC plays everything but never shows a listing

VLC has no program guide, so that is expected rather than a fault. Use VLC to confirm the link and to watch at a desk, and turn to Kodi with the xmltv.php address, or to a player that takes the Xtream lines, whenever you want to see when a film starts. The same account answers in both, so nothing needs changing on the VLC side.

The playlist takes ages to open on a television app

A full list is thousands of lines, and a basic player works through all of them before showing a single channel. Give the first load a few minutes on television hardware. If every start is that slow, a player that uses the Xtream lines usually loads the list in sections instead, which feels much faster on the same set.

The link stopped working after a renewal

Your login details are baked into the link. If the renewal kept the same details, the old link starts working again within minutes of the new term. If new details were sent, the old link still points at the old ones: copy the new link from the chat and replace it in every player, re-uploading it on the developer’s page if one of them is Smart IPTV.

A fault that follows you from one screen to the next usually lives in the login or the connection rather than in this player, and the IPTVSOSO troubleshooting page works through those causes one at a time.

Other ways in with the same IPTVSOSO login

Bring an IPTVSOSO login to the player

Twelve months cost $69, or start with one at $15. Either way you get 25,000+ live channels and 120,000+ films and series, with activation in under 15 minutes.

M3U playlist and IPTVSOSO, answered briefly

Does IPTVSOSO give an M3U link?

Yes. Every trial and plan comes with an M3U link in the WhatsApp activation message, alongside the three Xtream Codes lines. It opens the same channels, for players that take a playlist rather than a login: VLC, Kodi’s IPTV Simple Client, Smart IPTV and similar apps.

Where is the IPTVSOSO EPG link for an M3U player?

It is the xmltv.php address on the same server as your playlist, carrying your username and password. It goes in the player’s EPG, XMLTV or guide field. If you would rather not build it from the playlist link, ask in the WhatsApp chat and it is sent ready to use. The IPTVSOSO TV guide page goes through the listings in more depth.

Can I share my IPTVSOSO M3U link?

No. The link has your login written into it, so whoever holds it can stream as you, taking up your connections. Keep it to the devices in your own home. If it has gone further than you meant, say so in the chat and ask about changing the details, then swap the new link into each player.

Does the M3U link include the IPTVSOSO movies and series?

Depending on how the link is set up, a playlist may list on-demand titles as well as channels, but playlist players show them as long lists rather than browsable Movies and Series sections. To explore the 120,000+ titles on demand, a player that takes the Xtream Codes lines, such as IPTV Smarters Pro, is the comfortable way. The live film and repeat channels play fine from the link.
