Lined up before the first channel
- Something to run it on: an Android phone, tablet or television, a Fire OS stick, a Windows PC or Mac, or an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV (on Apple it goes by Smarters Player Lite)
- Your IPTVSOSO server URL, username and password
- Three channel names to test search with, such as TCM, Gold and ITV3
No login in hand yet? The free 24-hour IPTVSOSO trial arrives as the same three details a paid term uses. The full price list sets out every length and screen count.
From standby to a familiar channel
Take the Xtream Codes route before anything else
Smarters can open an account in more than one form, and the form decides how much of it you get. Login with Xtream Codes API asks for three lines, a server URL, a username and a password, and from them builds Live TV, Movies and Series and fetches the guide. The playlist option, fed with the M3U link, will play live channels, though the on-demand tiles and the listings tend to come through incomplete. A portal address is the format MAG boxes use and has no field here. Your IPTVSOSO activation message holds all three Xtream lines, so take that route and keep the M3U link as a spare.
Install the edition your screen takes
Android owners find IPTV Smarters Pro in Google Play, on phones and tablets as well as on Android TV and Google TV televisions. Fire OS sticks need Downloader to fetch it, and the Firestick guide has each press; the Fire TV Stick 4K Select cannot take it, because its Vega OS blocks sideloaded apps. Apple hardware gets the free Smarters app under another name, Smarters Player Lite, from the App Store. Computers get Windows and macOS installers from the developer’s own website. On Samsung and LG televisions, whether the store lists it depends on the model year; if a search there finds nothing, Smart IPTV runs on those sets instead.
Fill in the three lines and add the user
Accept the terms, open the Xtream form and work down it. The first field only names the profile, so “Den” or your own name will do. Username and password follow, and both are case sensitive: copy every capital exactly as it appears in the chat. The server URL is entered whole, beginning with http:// and finishing on the port number that follows its colon, with nothing typed past the port. Press Add User. The first fill takes a few minutes, because after the channels and their listings the app fetches a catalog of 120,000+ titles; let it finish before opening anything.
Find the film and repeat channels
Live TV opens on a list of groups, mostly sorted by country and genre, and the classics-format channels sit in a few of them. Expect TCM, MoviePlex, Starz Encore, Hallmark Movies, HBO Signature, Sundance and IFC among the US film channels, Gold, Dave, ITV3 and ITV4 among the UK ones, and Boomerang with the children’s channels; the exact group labels vary from list to list. If browsing goes nowhere, use search inside Live TV and type a short piece of the name, such as “encore” or “itv3”. One trap: “gold” also matches Star Gold in the South Asian group, so check the group before you pick.
Gather them into one favorites list
Add each channel to favorites as you find it. Depending on the build, that is a long press on the channel or a heart or star in its options, if your version offers it. A useful classics list is short: TCM for classic films; MoviePlex and Starz Encore, known for films from earlier decades; Hallmark Movies for TV movies; Gold for comedy repeats; ITV3 for drama repeats; Boomerang for the cartoon slot. Seven channels is plenty to start with, and a favorites list opens faster than any group. Smarters usually stores favorites on the device itself, so each screen in the house builds its own.
Read the guide for the film slots
Behind a button in Live TV, labeled EPG or TV Guide depending on the build, the program guide lists what each channel is showing and what comes next. Run down your favorites with it. A film appears as one entry with a title and a start time, which is how you catch a Sunday-afternoon film on TCM at the beginning instead of forty minutes in. Where a channel carries catch-up, a program that has already aired can be opened from the guide or from a Catch Up tile, if your version offers it, and it plays from the start. A channel without catch-up gives no way back, so the guide is your warning.
Use Movies and Series for anything without a time slot
Live channels decide when a film starts; the library lets you decide. Movies and Series hold the on-demand side of the subscription, 120,000+ titles arranged in categories, with older films and finished series among them. Each section has its own search, and a search there matches titles rather than channel names, so look for channels in Live TV and for titles here. Whether a film can be resumed later, and whether it carries more than one audio or subtitle track, depends on the title and on your version of the app.
Test the setup on TCM
One channel tests the whole chain. Find TCM in Live TV and play it until the picture is steady. Add it to favorites, go back to the home screen and open the favorites list to see it there. Then open the guide on TCM and read its next entry, the title and the start time of what follows. The picture shows the stream works, the saved favorite shows the app is keeping your choices, and the listing shows the guide source is connected. When all three check out, Smarters is ready, and the same three lines will do for any other screen you add.
IPTV Smarters Pro faults, traced back to the cause
The App Store has no IPTV Smarters Pro
On an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, the free Smarters app is listed as Smarters Player Lite, so a search for the Pro name can come back empty or show unrelated players. Install Smarters Player Lite, choose its Xtream option and enter the same three lines you used elsewhere. Be wary of any app, on any platform, that claims to come with channels already inside or carries the IPTVSOSO name: no such app exists, and a genuine player arrives empty.
A comedy repeat on Gold has black bars at the sides
That is usually the correct picture. A lot of older television was made for squarer screens than today’s, and keeping its shape leaves bars to the left and right. Stretching it to fill the width makes everyone look wider. If a program does look pulled or squashed, open the player options during playback and look for an aspect or zoom setting, if your version offers it, and choose the original or fit option. Softness comes from the source too: a show made in SD or HD stays SD or HD, and a 4K plan does not change that.
Movies and Series open to empty shelves
Say the trial went in through the playlist option because the M3U link was the first thing in the chat. Live TV works, but the on-demand sections have nothing to fill them. Add a new user with the Xtream form and the same details, wait for the first fill, then delete the playlist user. Do it before building the classics favorites list, since anything starred under the old user stays with that user.
Favorites from the living-room TV are missing on the tablet
Nothing is lost. In most versions Smarters keeps favorites on the device that saved them, so the tablet starts with an empty list even though the login is identical. Add the same channels there, which takes a minute with search. The same applies after reinstalling the app on one device: the reinstall clears that device’s favorites, so note the channel names first if the list is long.
A fault that follows you from one screen to the next usually lives in the login or the connection rather than in this player, and the IPTVSOSO troubleshooting page works through those causes one at a time.

IPTV Smarters Pro and IPTVSOSO, answered briefly
Does IPTVSOSO work in IPTV Smarters Pro?
Yes. IPTVSOSO accounts are issued as Xtream Codes details, the format Smarters reads natively, so the live channels, the program guide and both on-demand sections arrive together from one sign-in. There is nothing extra to install: Smarters is the player, and your subscription is what goes inside it. To see what the groups contain before you sign in, browse the IPTVSOSO channel list.
Is IPTV Smarters Pro free with an IPTVSOSO plan?
The app is free to install, and IPTVSOSO adds no charge for using it. The cost is the subscription you put inside it: one connection costs $15 for a month or $69 for a full year, paid once, with no automatic renewal. The player itself arrives empty and carries no channels until those details go in.
Can I use IPTVSOSO on an iPhone or Apple TV with Smarters?
Yes, through Smarters Player Lite, the free Apple version of the app in the App Store. It takes the same Xtream Codes details as the Android and Fire OS editions, and on an iPhone or iPad it is handy for checking the guide away from the television. Favorites saved on the phone stay on the phone.
Where are the classic movie channels in IPTV Smarters Pro?
They are in Live TV, not in Movies. TCM, MoviePlex, Starz Encore and Hallmark Movies sit with the US film channels, and Gold, Dave and ITV3 with the UK ones, though group labels vary. Search inside Live TV finds each of them from a fragment of its name. The guide to classic channels describes each format in more detail.
